Enlisted in the Army in 2008 as a 31BV5, deployed in 2010 to Afghanistan, then TDY to GTMO and ETS'D in 2018. I, like 99% of veterans leaving the military don't know what to do when it comes to getting their benefits. I, again like so many veterans before me and after me will state "Nothing is wrong with me, I don't need to go to the VA" or better yet " I don't qualify because I never went to Sick call" That was me and then some. I didn't have any military medical records and was lost in the sauce. So I attempted to file on my own and was denied, filed with the DAV, and was denied. I thought I would never get them. So I did the research, filed appeals, pushed up for higher ratings, etc. After all my hard work I finally got a rating of 90. I was happy for a while and settled. I heard the horror stories of the last 10% was the most difficult to obtain and I didn't attempt to rock the boat. It wasn't until I sought out a little help and was pushed to 100. This is why I helped create JOINT OPS CONSULTING LLC in 2020. The point of the story is that we all need a little help from time to time. Let us be that help!
Joined the military in early 2005 having nothing more than patriotism running through my blood and an eager attempt to provide a better life for my children. Believing to be living a dream after being assigned to Germany as my first duty station I was hit with the reality we would deploy shortly after my arrival.
Although a year in Iraq can contribute to some of the best and worst times of my life I did not know the long-lasting effects of my military service and the battle I would be up against long after I was out.
It was not till 2016 that I finally attempted to start this process for myself with the VA after years of encouragement from my fellow co-workers and veterans. It was between my first initial rating and assisting dozens of other vets in first-time claims that I pushed forward for an increase from 90-100%. I heard the horror stories myself and knew that the last 10% is truly the hardest to receive.
Although I wouldn't trade my experiences for the world I wish I had better guidance before attempting to navigate the VA process; to receive the care I needed early on. I know now I wouldn't have neglected my needs as long as I did and I would have helped more veterans in their journey sooner than I did.
Since starting this business with Luis in November of 2020 we have been blessed to help more veterans than we can count and will continue to guide them, pray for them and congratulate them with tears of joy and laughter when they get what they deserve, as well.
It was in 1885 that Henry Clay Trumball wrote a book called, The Blood of the Covenant. He highlights the saying Blood is thicker than water with regards to the original phrase, "As the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb."
How this resonates with us and the services we provide is the experiences our brothers and sisters of armed forces have endured bonded us like family, regardless of service time, era, or branch of service. We believe we are bonded through those very experiences to have a duty to assist all veterans in reaching their maximum potential. We want to invite all military veterans to reach out to us for first-time claims, increases in their benefits, or examining the appeals/nexus process. We would like to share other veteran-owned businesses alike and different with our clients and or another service within their local network that can assist them in locating the assistance they need. We offer friendship and a forever family in this journey that we all are seeking to validate our sacrifice and service.
Don't fight alone!
